C for Configuration

Had a dream last night where I was in a concert hall going to watch a concert. The support act was on and I noticed my friend, Laura, sitting a few seats to the left of me. She was on her laptop and didn’t look in a great mood, so I went over to say hello. She was designing some sort of software or app and was struggling a bit. After a while I went off to get a drink, but she sent me a text asking for help. I went back in and she explained that she was adding shortcuts using letters – E for error, T for template, etc. – and she needed one for configuration, but she’d already used C for colour. I suggested she just use an image of a cog instead, so she quickly drew one. I noticed she was using keyboard shortcuts to select the colour from the colour palette and I asked her how to do it. She took my fingers and put one on the shift key, one on the F11 key and told me to press the F11 key repeatedly really fast. I did so and she explained that this ‘refreshed the library’ to make the computer run quicker.

After the concert I went to Erdington. I had an hour lunch break before I had to be back at work, so I walked to the end of the high street with my headphones in listening to a self help CD. When I got to the end I came across a shop that had a massive banner saying ‘Toy Shop’ and then in smaller writing it said ‘We also sell comics.’ Inside it was evident that it was in fact a comics shop that also sold toys, as there were far more comics than toys. Still, I had a look around at the Star Wars stuff and some DC stuff. I was disappointed there was no Doctor Who stuff, but then I saw there was an upstairs, so I went up and sure enough there was a row of Doctor Who things – again it was mainly comics. There were a few figures but I already had them at home. A girl – who I apparently knew – pointed out some comics that had been signed by Toby Jones, Freema Agyeman and a couple of other people. She suggested we could buy them and sell them on ebay, but I didn’t.

Later on, I was in the cinema. I was on my own and sat next to a woman who seemed quite friendly. She told me there was no beer at the bar so she had to buy a yogurt instead. Before the film, there was a warm up comedian who didn’t really tell any jokes, he just interacted with the audience. One guy sneezed and the comedian asked if anyone had a tissue. A woman gave him a Thomas The Tank themed tissue and the comedian said ‘Oh, it’s all about the Thomas the Tank with you isn’t it.’

When the film started, one of the security guards saw a guy trying to record the film on his phone. She went to take him off it and he asked if he could order some cookies from McDonalds first. She let him and then he gave her the phone.

That was pretty much it. I didn’t get to see the film in the end.
