The day the Stormtroopers came for tea

I had a dream last night where I was in the office at work on my own. I was a bit sad for some reason, but I don’t know what. I hear some noise outside and heard Goodwin’s voice talking about tea. I looked outside and saw he was pouring some brown liquid into a barrel of water to make it look like tea. He had a young boy with him helping.

I went to go downstairs, but saw two Stormtroopers – a black one and the silver one from the recent films – standing waiting. I hid back round the corner, but the silver one ordered the black one to go upstairs and investigate. At the top of the stairs, I was now in my own home, so I ran into my mother’s bedroom and grabbed a hair dryer. As the stormtrooper came in, I kicked his gun out of his hands and pointed the hair dryer at him. I didn’t turn it on, because then he’d know it was just a hair dryer, but I thought it looked like quite a futuristic gun. He surrendered and went back downstairs.

At another point in the dream, Mike and I were in a shop. There was a long queue where people were guessing what a woman had been playing with in the 70s. I pointed out the queue to Mike, but as he turned to look at it, I realised that there was only one person left in the queue and I was stood behind her. I went up to the desk and the woman had a long list of things people had already guessed in different categories. You were allowed two guesses, so I guessed Lego and Rubik cube, but Rubik cube was already on there. I couldn’t think of anything else, so I said, “Ah, just put it down anyway.” To be honest, I was quite confident with Lego.

In the final part of the dream, I was at a seminar in a big hall. I can’t remember what it was about, but I think it was just a general thing about being happy and living life to the full. At the end, the woman giving the talk announced that her colleague would be giving out packs of post-it notes to random people in the audience.

I was one of the lucky few to be given a pack of these purple post-it notes. They had a paw shape and an orange word printed on them, but I can’t remember what the word was. When she gave them to me, I acted mildly surprised with an, “Oh, thank you.”

After a few seconds, she came back to me and asked for them back. She then gave me just one of the post-it notes. I figured this was a test to see if my reaction would be less pleased, so I said in exactly the same tone, “Oh, thank you.”

And that was it. That was last night’s dream.

Except it wasn’t, because I’ve just remembered another bit.

I was walking down a street with my brother, Lee, when we saw Christopher Eccleston walking towards us. He was wearing an outfit similar to that of his Ninth Doctor character from Doctor Who. As we passed, I said, “Hello, how are you?”

“Hello. I’m good thanks,” he replied, before asking, “are you a Doctor Who fan?

I said I was and asked if I could have a photo with him. He said I could, so I handed my phone to Lee. I did my usual pose of pointing at Eccleston with a big cheesy grin. When I checked the photos though, Lee had taken them too early, so there was a photo of me walking over to Eccleston and a photo of me just before I raised my arm to point at him. Sadly, Eccleston had already said goodbye and left, so I couldn’t get a better photo. I wasn’t best pleased with my brother.
