Week 1 – A car you can live in
Our first challenge was set and judged by Mike.
"Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to design a vehicle you can live in. Said vehicle must have all the amenities needed to live comfortably, i.e bathroom, kitchen, a bed etc as well as some way to stay entertained. You don't need to include these things but there must be room to include these things which must be indicated by the creator."
It was an ambitious first task, but there were our entries:
Suzanne's "Flatardis"
I realised that I didn't have as many loose Lego as I thought, so I had to come up with an alternative idea, which was the Flatardis.
Clara complained to the Doctor that she was missing her flat when they travelled, so the Time Lord came up with an idea. He turned Clara’s flat into a TARDIS by connecting his TARDIS to Clara’s flat.
Soon, they realised that the flat had a tendency to materialise in non practical areas, and the Doctor came up with a new idea. He managed to create a car strong enough to support the flat’s weight. Now they would be able to move the flat around!
Ben's "Bendy Bungalow"
The vehicle has two sections, connected by a rotating joint in the middle for easy manoeuvring around corners.
In the front we have the driving seat, complete with wheel and lever for locking the middle joint when it gets slippy on the roads. There’s also a microwave oven for cooking delicious snacks.
The back half of the vehicle will fulfil all your daily needs. With a toilet, sink, bed, computer and window, you’ll never need to leave your car again.
Mike's verdict
The Flatardis
I like the flowers on the window there, I like the little kitchen and the table there, and if I'm not mistaken there is a bed there. Only downsides I'd say are there's a lack of entertainment, no TV, no games, also no bathroom from what I can see. Also no way to steer it from what I can make out either but I can imagine steering it from the bed so I'll let that pass. I like the name and I like the story, so I'll give it 7.5/10.
The Bendy Bungalow
I like that it's Deadpool, that made me chuckle, I like the practicality of it, I can tell you've put a lot of thought into it from your description. I like that it has a laptop in front of the bed, very practical and that also makes up the entertainment part. Only issues I have is the toilet, which I love, is right next to the bed, which is both a good thing and a bad thing, on one hand it's handy but on the other it's stinky, however I did notice that window there so good forethought. It's also pretty cramped. However it is compact and I imagine it working well as both a vehicle and a house. So, I'm giving it 8/10.
