Paul and the bass

Paul McCartney was playing a small show somewhere, just like a community centre or somewhere. I was in the front row watching him. I only remember him playing one song that wasn’t an existing song. I think it was called something like “All of her”… it had ‘all’ in the title. He saw me wiggling my fingers like I was copying his playing and when he finished he asked if I wanted to play his bass guitar. I was very excited and instantly said yes, but I shyly told him I couldn’t remember any songs. He said to just play anyway, so I played the song that he’d just been playing.

When I woke up, I tried to remember it. He only used three notes on the 1st, 3rd and 5th frets of the E string. I’ve tried copying the pattern he did, but it doesn’t sound great. It went something like this…

E| – 3 – – 3 – 3 – 3- 3 – 1 – – 3 – – 3 – 3 – 3- 3 – 1 –

E| – 5 – – 5 – 5 – 5- 3 – – 3 – – 3 – 3 – 3 – 1 –
