The Nuneaton Connection
The dream started with all of us at my grandparents’ house. We were watching a film and my brother’s baby was there with us (not yet born in real life so it was non-gender specific in the dream). I was bouncing the baby on my knees whilst it was talking to me
Baby: “Tomorrow I am not here”
Me: “Where will you be?”
Baby: “Nuneaton.”
Me: “Nuneaton?”
Baby: “We are going to Nuneaton to stay.”
Me: “Oh you’re going and staying here at the same time then?”
And everyone laughed at that, even though it was a terrible joke. After that, Maisie Williams – the actress who was also there for some reason – tried to play with the baby but it didn’t like her seemingly.
My nan and grandad were having their house painted. The decorator had also brought his son with him and my grandparents had been looking after him for the day. Whilst the decorator was passing through the house, my grandad offered him a glass of water. The decorator accepted, but about an hour later my grandad hadn’t given him a glass of water, so the decorator came in and said “I’ll make my own water then shall I?” and my grandad just smiled at him.
Then I woke up.
Then I went downstairs and had a wee.
Then I came back upstairs and went back to sleep.
In the next part of the dream, I was on a plane with my grandparents heading somewhere on holiday. The captain came on the speaker and announced himself: “My name is Brian and I’ll be crashing your plane today.” Luckily we all understood this was a joke. On the plane we met a woman from Hong Kong who sat by us. She’d been on holiday but had missed all her excursions and ended up on a tour of a brewery instead. My grandad told her all about our holiday and then invited her to Birmingham.
Then the dream cut to an episode of Monty Python, in which Eric Idle and John Cleese were doing ‘the valuation sketch’. I’m not sure what actually happened in the sketch, but I do remember that it ended with Eric Idle and Kermit the Frog singing Rainbow Connection, which was a nice end to the dream.
